I met Clann an Drumma at the 2004 Edinburgh festival, their music was energetic and lively, and the atmosphere amazing.

The band is led by Joe. He has a keen eye for publicity and talent with an infectious enthusiasm. As a front-man of sorts, he gets the crowd involved, giving children drums and rattles so they can join in the thumping performance.

Even more bouncy, and always covered in sweat is Jamsie. When the rest of the group went for a burger, Jamsie headed off in search of some soup, but only after practicing his Mr T impressions.

Kyle makes a pitstop between gigs.
Each festival gig lasted around fifteen minutes, either on the royal mile or near it. The band flogged as many CD's as they could, then rested hard for the next performance. |

Donnie, the youngest member of the band, decided to forgo resting and practice his flail instead. The band keep a lot of medieval weaponary for photoshoots, education and props.
As night fell, Alicia (who was also photographing the group) and I suddenly found ourselves in a photoshoot for the "Scottish Quest" board game. | ![]() |

Joe, never one to waste an opportunity, had organised it quickly, the only thing missing was light. The photoshoot was carried out in the dead of night. It was time for the photographers to play with the flashy bits on the camera.
